In 2005 Rap2122 leaves Paris' suburb for a remote village in Allier region. After years surveying European capitals' train systems for painting graffitis, he now has to work with a disused countryside railroad soon to be turned into cycle-rail for tourists. RUN DMC featuring Jean-Marie recounts his unexpected encounter with some modest and vivid traces of the early hours of hip-hop in France from the mid-1980s, in this place where we would expect them least. A slice of the author’s life, the text unfolds an investigation switching between the better and lesser known history of graffiti, as well as a story of a rural territory with multiple cultural influences.
